Facelift

A facelift involves the surgical removal of wrinkles or the tightening of the skin around the face and neck, to restore a youthful and natural appearance.   The ageing of the skin can be caused by a number of factors including genetics, sun damage, smoking, excessive facial expression and discolouration.  There are other surgical techniques that may be considered with a facelift, including eyelid or blepharoplasty, browlift, templelift, laser skin rejuvenation, or facial injectables, which can significantly improve the expression of the face.  During a consultation, Dr Shortt will discuss your desired outcome, while evaluating the structure, gravity, volume and texture of your face to carefully develop a surgical plan.

Necklift

A necklift is a surgical procedure that involves the removal and tightening of sagging skin around the face and neck.  The sagging skin on the neck is often referred to as 'jowl' or 'waddle'.  A necklift is often performed in conjunction with a facelift.  Other techniques used to improve the appearance of the neck and the face, include liposuction and laser skin rejuvenation.  These techniques will be discussed with Dr Shortt during a consultation, along with your desired expectations.

Eyelid (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, involves removing loose or sagging skin from the upper eyelid and removing fat deposits or 'bags' below the lower eyelid.  The results of this procedure are a fresher and more youthful appearance.  Other benefits of blepharoplasty include an increase in peripheral vision when it has been impaired by loose skin around the eyes. Dr Shortt will discuss with you during a consultation your desired outcome, as well as evaluate the shape of your eyes, symmetry, and the proportion of the tear troughs in relation to the cheeks. A surgical plan will be carefully developed, while your pre and post operative expectations are discussed.

Browlift

A browlift involves careful consideration of the face, eyes, eyelids, tear troughs, forehead and the symmetry of the face.  There are many factors that affect the ageing process of the brows and forehead, including sun damage, facial expression, gravity, and genetics.  A browlift can improve the appearance of the eyes and forehead, particularly a downward expression, frown lines, or forehead creases.  There are other surgical techniques that may be considered with a browlift, including facelift, eyelid or blepharoplasty, templelift, laser skin rejuvenation, and facial injectables, which can also significantly improve the expression of the face. Dr Shortt will discuss these facial cosmetic surgery techniques during a consultation, while evaluating your pre and post operative expectations.

Nose (Rhinoplasty)

A rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the functionality or physical appearance of the nose.  The function and appearance of the nose can be affected by trauma, genetics, or compromised breathing conditions.  Dr Shortt will evaluate your nose in proportion to your facial features and its functionality, and will discuss with you what features you like and dislike. To help Dr Shortt understand your desired outcome, you can bring to your consultation photos that you find attractive and will assist your surgeon to reach your expectations.
