My journey to Dr. Shortt began over a year ago when I started on my weight loss journey. When I had lost 90 pounds I started to do my research for the best surgeon to fix my saggy breasts and excess skin on my tummy. From my first interaction with his office, and his very helpful assistant Joanne, I felt comfortable and confident that I’d made the right choice in surgeons.

At my consultation appointment, Dr. Shortt listened to my concerns and gave me options to get the best results for my body. He made me feel comfortable in his knowledge of the procedures and even made a few suggestions for options that I hadn’t considered, like taking some excess fat from my tummy and transferring it to my upper breast to make them fuller once he’d lifted them.

I finally decided to have an “extended tummy tuck and a breast lift with fat transfer to the upper breasts”.

On the day of surgery, the nurse’s Geraldine and Rachel were so kind and calmed my nerves while they got me ready for the operating room. The anesthesiologist, Dr.White was extremely nice.

After the surgery, in recovery, I was taken care of by Nurse Kim who was so caring and comforting.

My next week flew by with no concerns and manageable pain. I was worried about having my tummy tuck drain removed but Kristin, the post op nurse, was so gentle, I didn’t feel a thing.

I hadn’t looked in the mirror all week because I wanted to see the results with Dr.Shortt when the bandages were removed. He handed me the mirror and to say I was overjoyed would be an understatement! I could not believe that my stomach and breasts could look so amazing! And my new belly button is a work of art!

I recently underwent breast reduction surgery performed by Dr. Shortt.

It is important to know a little about me before I give details of my experiences. In my family, cosmetic surgery is a no-no, regardless of the reason. I never visited a male doctor (by choice). In the past, I suffered shoulder, neck, and back pain due to my asymmetrical and heavy breasts. My search for a good surgeon started about three years ago. I saw at least four surgeons before I met Dr. Shortt. As someone who was on the wait list for 1.5-2 years, I am happy to report that it was well worth the wait.

Unlike many other surgeons who made me feel like many things in my body were not in proper shape and suggested with breast reduction, I may need to fix the others, and I remember leaving their offices with quotes of at least $20K plus and my experience with Dr. Shortt was just the opposite.

When I met Dr. Shortt and the team, we discussed my health problem and why surgery is needed. Our meeting was not geared toward selling me anything extra. 4 months ago I went through a breast fat transfer surgery with Dr Shortt and I can’t even find the words to explain how happy I am with this procedure along with the professionalism and knowledge and skill is this plastic surgeon. I had a breast reduction & abdominoplasty…, I am thrilled with the results! I was extremely nervous for my first appointment and was met with a very professional and personable team. Joanne is Dr Shortts receptionist and is quite simply lovely, the nurse I met with following my surgery was caring, as well as expedient in removing my stitches and Dr Shortt well, I don’t have a ton of experience with surgeons however, he is compassionate, knowledgeable and has made me look and feel my very best! Where do I begin… I was pondering the idea of fixing my c-section scar for a while. I had 3 c-sections and even though I always lived a fit lifestyle, the little fold over my scars did bother me. After many consultations with amazingly patient Dr. Shortt we settled on the mini tummy tuck to address my concern. Now guys… I am the nervous type. Amazing team of medical professionals here! I went to Dr Shortt for abdominoplasty and submental liposuction. Standing in front of someone and exposing the part(s) of your body that you feel the most self-conscious about is an extremely vulnerable position to be in. From the minute I met Dr. Shortt he made me feel totally at ease. He was very professional but with a personal touch that made me feel completely confident that I was in the hands of someone who wasn’t just doing a job, but truly cared about addressing my concerns and giving me the results I was looking for. I had been to two other plastic surgeons for consults and Dr. Shortt was the only one of the three who made me feel seen as a person, not just as a job. He took the time to bring me into his office to show me a presentation explaining the procedure and what I could expect and to discuss the risks. I did not feel rushed at all. I’ve done other procedures in the past and nothing has come even somewhat close to my amazing experience with Dr Rodger Shortt and his staff. From my first consult to the surgery day and my post-op appointments, they have been just a pleasure to work with. I am so happy I found Dr Shortt and I am over the moon about my results. I have struggled with loose skin on my belly for a long time. I lost a lot of weight when I was younger, then add 2 children to the mix and it got even worse. I tried everything until I realized a TT was my only option. I went around and did a lot of research and I met with a few other doctors until I made my decision and like I said earlier int his review no doctor came close to how Dr Shortt made me feel. He is so patient, took the time to go over every single detail. I didn’t feel rushed at all in my consult. He was very honest about what procedure I needed (I originally went in thinking I needed liposuction). I walked out of the consult and within a few days I called back to book my surgery day, I felt so confident with him and his work.
Bed side manner is 10/10. All the staff that was in the operating room (Nurses and anesthesiologist) were beyond amazing. One of the nurses held my hand just before I went under the anesthetic. They made me feel so comforted and confident that they would be taking great care of me during the procedure. The post-op care nurse was also so amazing.

Joanne, Dr Shortt’s assistant, was just a pleasure to also work with. She is also so incredibly patient and truly cares! I must have emailed over a dozen times but at no point did she make me feel like I was too much. She was there for me every question I asked and her turn around time to all my emails were so quick! She always answered all my questions. She provided me with all the guidance needed before going to my procedure and all the information needed to make sure I was ready for the big day.

The results: I am now 3 months post-op and I couldn’t be happier with my results. I knew that Dr Shortt was the best and the results are only getting better and better each week. I was most scared about how my belly button would turn out, but he really takes belly button business seriously! LOL! He took extra time to make sure it was perfect and his results really speak for themselves. My TT incision is really low as it should be and with his post-op care guidance, it is healing really really well. I have a new found confidence thanks to his amazing work!

I saw Dr Short to look at a mole and a cyst. He was friendly and professional and left the smallest incision that healed perfectly. I recommend Dr Shortt for anything – he’ll give you honest advice and take good care of you.

I did quite a bit of research into breast fat transfers and I’m so glad that I asked for Dr. Shortt. He is very experienced in fat grafting and my experience so far has been amazing!

If anyone else is thinking about Breast Fat Transfers, I would highly recommend Dr. Shortt.
What you can expect is that:
– There may be a long wait time before the initial consultation (3-4 years), but ask to be on the cancellation list. I was very fortunate to get an appointment in less than a year. After that, I was able to book a surgery date within 3 months.
– I was well taken care of. The nurse contacted me for pre-op instructions, blood work/ECG, and measurements for the compression garments (worn for at least 6 weeks post-op)
– Breast fat retention differs from person to person. After the first procedure, I went from less than an A cup to a more full A cup at the 3 month mark. It was very easy to discuss with Dr. Shortt about a second procedure at one of the post-op appointments. Dr. Shortt always appreciated my well-being first and I had no seromas or cysts. It was a short period of time to book a second surgery date as well (within 1 year, could be longer if desired).
– Massage therapy was recommended one week post-op. My massage therapist said that Dr. Shortt’s liposuction work was some of the best that they had seen. The position of the puncture sites for the fat retrieval were perfectly placed to not impede my lymphatic drainage and healing. My massage therapist said that they’ve seen procedures from other physicians in and outside of Canada that had poorer healing in comparison. (I also recommend massage therapy for the fat retrieval sites – my bit of bruising went away very quickly!)
– It was easy to connect with a nurse if I had any post-op questions and to ask Dr. Shortt any questions at the post-op visit.

I hope that is helpful for anyone thinking about fat transfer.

Dr. Shortt is the most amazing surgeon I have ever met. He had to remove skin cancer from just below my left eye and you can hardly see the scar. He has a way of making you feel at ease when you’re really nervous. I have seen him for 2 procedures and many appointments and I can’t say how much I appreciate him and his staff. The ladies are all so nice. I would recommend him 100%.

I have had 2 breast surgeries prior, that were expensive and also great surgeons, so I can tell you, that this experience was much better.

Backstory:

I started to develop a lot of pain in my breast implants after 8 years of having them, so bad that sometimes it would wake me up at night and I could no longer lay on my stomach at all. Constant shoulder, neck and back pain that just would not go away. I researched doctors for two years.

The first surgeon I went for a consultation, told me I would need an explant, lift, fat transfer and liposuction on my stomach and underarms. They said that otherwise, they would look deflated and sagging and that I would have a “fat pouch” under my arms from the lift. Complete BS and I almost believed it.

Consultation:

When I went to Dr. Shortt, he gave me a completely different consultation. He said that I have plenty of breast tissue/fat, that I should not under any circumstance get a lift, because then the nipples would be set too high. Never criticized my other body parts like the first surgeon. Even though I was still a bit skeptical, I just had a good feeling about it and went with it.

AND: my surgery was covered by OHIP.

Everyone was great, the nurses took good care of me!

Results:

Today I am 4 weeks post!

We did an explant with one incision at the fold (no lift, no capsulectomy) and I am shocked by how good my boobs look. They look better than ever and my scars are healing slightly differently from before as well. Previously I thought that my skin just did not scar well, but now they are light and thin and hidden in the breast fold – AMAZING! Dr.Shortt was completely right in his assessment. I might have went down one cup size (D to a C?), but they look round and perky, actually shapelier than with implants.

Bottom line: I highly recommend Dr. Shortt, he is honest, professional, truly knowledgable and skilled.

I will start this review off by saying that this has been one of the best experiences with plastic surgery of my life.

Dr Rodger Shortt is absolutely incredible. His personality, bed side manner, his honesty, his staff, his work on you, if I can give all of that over 100 stars I would.

I’ve struggled with loose skin on my belly for quite some time. I lost a lot of weight when I was younger (around highschool). I competed in fitness competitions. And then years later I had two baby’s. Extreme dieting and weight fluctuations with two pregnancies caused loose skin on my belly that I was not happy with. I tried everything until I realized I need to see a plastic surgeon for this! I saw more than one and Dr Shortt was the last consult I had before I made a decision. I walked out of the consult and I knew he was the one. I booked my surgery a few days later. I was so confident in having my procedure done by him.

At my consult he listened to everything I had to say. He was so incredibly patient. Offered his honest advice, took me through a whole PowerPoint explaining EVERYTHING. He made me feel so comfortable. He tells you EXACTLY what to expect. No beating around the bush! For me, before I walked out of there I wanted to throw my wallet at him. Let’s do this now!!!! Lol! His bedside manner, was being anything I can even explain. Is he even real? Yes he is real. I remember I walked in on the day of my procedure, at 7am. It was still dark out – i was fasting (so no coffee either) and he walked in with the biggest smile on his face and made me laugh the entire time while he was making his markings. Everything about him and his way makes you feel so comfortable and confident to be in his care!

His staff while in the operating room:
They were amazing! All of them. The nurses were so calming. Doing their job to get me ready but also making sure I’m good! One nurse even held my hand while the anesthesiologist was about to administer the anesthesia. That meant the world to me! It really calmed me down. The anesthesiologist was also so great. Answered all my questions and I truly felt so comfortable and confident being in their care.

Joanne, Dr Shortts assistant. Is a DOLL!! Best assistant out there. So kind and caring. Got back to me so promptly. Made sure to provide me with everything I needed to know before my big day. Before and after my procedure, she has just been a gem to work with.

The results: I will update this review with pictures for better reference. At the end of the day – the results are what people are looking for when you book these surgeries. I am now 3 months post op and I couldn’t be happier with my AMAZING results. The new confidence I have is just beyond what I even thought I was going to feel after recovering. My belly button looks amazing. I was worried about that the most but Dr Shortt assured me that he takes his time on the belly button to ensure a beautiful belly button! And let me tell you, he delivered! My tummy tuck scar is so low and the incision is nice and thin and with his post-op guidance that I’m following it’s only getting better and better as each week passes.

I just had a breast reduction done by Dr. Shortt. Before my surgery I was 36DD and I am only 56 kg so it was extremly big and heavy and uncomfortable and I hated them.
Dr Shortt had a long waiting time due to covid restrictions but it was just worth the wait.
He explained every step about the surgery, he answered all my questions, he is veey proffesional and friendly at the same time.

After my single mastectomy surgery, I was left with a scar that slashed across and scooped out my chest; you could see my beating heart just under the thin layer of flesh. Dr. Shortt thoroughly explained the procedure to me and I felt very comfortable with each surgery. He also removed my radiation tattoos with minimal scarring that have almost faded away completely. I can only say good things about my experience having a mommy makeover, from the consultations where all my questions were addressed, to the surgery and follow up post op. Dr. Shortt is an absolute master in his field of Cosmetic Surgery , I am delighted with the results , I have definition in the contours of my face again , I have volume in my cheeks and under my eyes , I look natural and refreshed , the exact results I had hoped for . I had literally no pain at all , a little discomfort of course which only lasted the first couple of days – I attribute this to Dr.Shortt’s exceptional skills and patience. Post surgery ( recovery) I was treated by Kim ( nurse ) who , like Cari was fantastic , constantly applying cold compresses to my face and making sure I was comfortable … truly grateful to have had the wonderful professional care from start to finish .

Today , Oct 7th, 2021 I had another surgical procedure by Dr. Shortt , called Nipple Inversion Correction , this was performed under local anesthesia which was fantastic , Dr. Shortt and I chatted and laughed throughout the procedure which again was painless , incredible really , however I feel it is Dr. Shortt’s skill and patience that makes this an easy painless procedure . I should add that initially when I had my consultation regarding my inverted nipples , Dr. Shortt suggested that I try a Nipple Corrector (Aspirator) as he said they often work and will save you the cost of Surgery , I did try this , for me, it did not work , I was so impressed that he wanted me to try the non surgical , low cost Aspirator rather than the surgery – it is testimony to his character , he truly cares for his patients in every aspect , surgical and financial.

I would highly recommend Dr. Shortt to anyone considering Cosmetic Surgery , he is an outstanding person , an absolute gem .

Dr. Roger Shortt was an incredible surgeon, he originally gave me implants and fat grafting for my tuberous breasts that had been a huge insecurity of mine. I was SO happy with them. Then, when the textured teardrop implants needed to come out he was incredibly supportive and had them switched out for smooth round ones right away. He knew which implants would best suit me while also listening to what I wanted. I couldn’t be happier with my results and trusted him the entire way. Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

It has now been almost 5 months since my lower eyelid surgery performed by Dr. Shortt and his amazing team. I could not be happier with the outcome.

My journey to this point started over 2 years ago. As I have aged my lower eyelids began to become more and more pronounced. While on conference calls or taking pictures I tried to get an angle that would hide the issue. It began to bother me more and more every year. My initial discussion with Dr. Shortt was via video conference due to covid. He was polite, professional and confident. I wanted to say yes on the spot, but felt it was best to research the procedure and Dr. Shortt over a 6 month period. Dr. Shortt’s lovely receptionist was so nice to deal with when setting up the first face-to-face meeting. By the end of that meeting I had the surgery date scheduled for a few months down the road.

All the pre-surgery information was provided to me well in advance, which I followed to the letter. The day of the surgery went very smooth. Dr. Shortt planned on 1 hour for the surgery but spent 2 hours to ensure my specific request was ultimately met. The surgery started around 3:30 and I was able to leave around 8:00 once I was fully awake.

I was asked by the discharge nurse to add a cold compress to my face for the rest of the evening which I followed for the next 4-6 hours. The first night at home was tough. I was so worried about ripping out my stitches that I only cat napped for 30-40 mins at a time. For the next 7 days while the stitches were in I was able to get more and more sleep just being very careful. I had some very powerful pain medication but honestly I did not have to use them for the entire 3 month recovery period. Actually I felt no pain at all post surgery. I attribute this to Dr. Shortt’s skill and the advice of the discharge nurse.

During the recovery period my left eye never gave me cause for concern. However, my right eye did have more swelling and chemosis that came and went over the next 8 weeks. Dr. Shortt was very good about bringing me back on a weekly and Bi-weekly basis to examine the eye and ensure the eye was improving.

I must admit I did have a serious scare around the 6 week mark as my right eye started to swell on the bottom and right side. Once Dr. Shortt was made aware he asked me to come back first thing the next day. I was terrified but Dr. Shortt calmly explain the healing process, provided me some stretching technique and asked me to be patient. I listened and following his instructions and over the coming 2-3 weeks the eye started to relax and the swelling diminished. Fast forward 2 months, my right eye is as good as the left eye. Both eyes have settled down and I look and feel normal. There is only a little tension on the periphery of the eye, which is normal and will fully settle down within the next year.

Dr. Shortt and the entire team at the clinic were incredibly professional to deal with through the entire 3-4 month recovery process.

When you are young most people never think that they will need this type of procedure done. Then life and age hits and your opinion charges drastically. It is truly amazing what surgeons can do and I for one am very grateful that Dr. Shortt was willing and able to help me.

I would recommend Dr. Shortt and his amazing team to anyone. Listen to their guidance, fully explain your desired outcome and I believe you can also a positive experience as well.

I am extremely pleased to share my experience and results of my lower lid surgery. Dr. Shortt and his staff were very courteous professional and competent. Dr. Shortt is an excellent surgeon. He is the boob expert. Makes awesome boobs. I had back pain and got OHIP for Reduction but added the liposuction to armpit are just to be sure. Still looks the same in armpits but the boobs are awesome. This was a super easy surgery, if you have any doubts go for it. Totally worth it.

In terms of pain I was on zero drugs, just tylenol for first few days, ita totally manageable. Was working from home on day 6po. From BBL, TT and liposuction, this surgery is a piece of cake.

Dr. Shortt is funny and very personable and we always had some good laughs. My only complaint is that there was no cell phone directly to contact doctors for after care, had to go through the office which sometimes takes time to get answers. Gone, if there is nothing wrong, but that is the only thing I didn’t like. The other surgery I had, after always had direct contact to doctors for after hours question. Not to be abused of course, but in recovery is nice to have.

Dr. Shortt did an excellent job. I love my shape and size. Probably would have been fine a little smaller, but its significantly better and I’m happy. I guess its better if it’s a conservative Reduction cause if it’s too small it might look weird.

Anyway, highly recommend this amazing doctor. He is a boob god.

I had the textured shaped implants put in by Dr Shortt with breast fat transfer to cover my extremely prominent ribs and an indent in my chest. The results from the fat transfer are spectacular, and you could never tell I had such a bony chest!

When the information came out about recalls, Dr Shortt happily accommodated me and we changed the implants to smooth round implants. He wasn’t defensive at all. He just wanted the best for his patient and got me in quickly! My results are amazing I’m shocked at what a transformation I have been through! I no longer avoid wearing deep necklines, and the results are so natural. When I tell people I have implants they are in disbelief!

I went to Dr Shortt to have an abdominoplasty to remove excess skin, 15 years after I lost 125lbs. From start to finish, Dr Shortt and the entire staff were patient, informative, and engaging. It has been three weeks since my extended tummy tuck. I did not expect such an amazing experience. At 3 years of age I had a vaccine put on my right butt cheek, back in Cuba , that vaccine got infected and my skin as result got attached to the hip bone, growing up it was a little embarrassing going to the beach wearing bikinis or any tight clothing because the hole in my butt will show tremendously , growing old it got worse because attached to the embarrassment it come pain when I seat for to long sleep on my right side anything that created any pressure,it was painful to me and very uncomfortable. I started getting really nervous a few days before my surgery and was super nervous the day of. Was I making the right choice, what happened if something went wrong? My surgery was three hours long, went well and I was home that night recovering.

I really never had any pain and never required the pain meds. For me, I felt better walking around (bent over) rather than being in bed. By day 4, I was able to go with my daughter and get some groceries.

I had breast implant surgery in 2004. I was 32 and had nursed 2 babies. I got 360g textured Allergan implants. Dr. Mitch Brown did my original surgery and was fantastic. I loved them but as I got older and my breasts got larger I didn’t love the size anymore. I got tired of having to go up a size for clothes to accommodate my chest. I consulted with Dr. Shortt for breast implant replacement. He was so thorough, patient and explained to me all the pros/cons and risks of surgery. He went into great detail about all the current controversy over textured implants. I decided to go ahead with surgery and replace my textured implants with smaller smooth implants. We had lots of discussion about sizing, whether or not to do a lift or not. I decided against doing a lift and left my trust in him for implant size that would best achieve my aesthetic goals. During surgery he placed a 250g and a 275g implant and the operative team assessed what looked best. I ended up with Inspira 275g. I am now 1 week post and I am so happy!!! He cauterized my existing capsule to help it shrink to accommodate the smaller implant. These implants are so much softer than my original ones. My recovery has been fantastic. Only minor discomfort. The day of the surgery I came home and cooked dinner for my kids! I went back to work 5 days later…a 10 hour workday and I was fine. I have worked everyday this week with no issue. The anesthetist was amazing…no nausea and no sore throat! It was a big decision for me to change my implants but I have absolutely no regrets! Dr. Shortt, his staff, my care and my results have met if not exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend Dr.Shortt!

Dr. Shortt preformed a gynecomastia gland removal on me, I am 20 years old and have been dealing with gynecomastia my whole life, it has caused me alot of pain and discomfort. I had sought a breast reduction to ease the back and neck pain I had endured for years. I had met a few other plastic surgeons over a year period. I had never been comfortable or confident enough to make the decision to have surgery…not until I met with Dr Shortt. I had been afraid of surgery and never felt convinced it was worth it. After my consultation with Dr Shortt , I was excited about how he could help. He made me feel very comfortable. During the initial examination we also spoke about the large deposits of skin and fat under my arms – a constant source of embarrassment and discomfort. I had not worn anything sleeveless in years as they spilled out. He spoke to me about “auxiliary breast tissue removal”. I was thrilled there was something that could be done and both surgeries could be performed together When explaining what the procedure would entail and the recovery time, he spoke with me not at me. At 51 years of age and many, many years of pain, I sought out a Surgeon who would perform for me an OHIP covered Breast Reduction and after a great deal of research, I selected Dr Shortt based on his credentials and experience. I am very pleased with the excellent work of Dr. Rodger Shortt. His expertise and great manners helped me a lot through the difficult times and multiple operations I went through. As a cancer breast patient, I had two mastectomies for my right and left breasts. Dr. Short joined the surgeon on my second mastectomy and started his wonderful work of inserting the breast tissue expanders. I visited Dr. Shortt’s clinic several times to inject the saline into the breast expanders. During these visits, I appreciated the staff pleasant attitudes and Dr. Shortt recommendations. At the last stage of the process, Dr. Shortt removed the breast expanders and inserted the breast implants and he reconstructed my nipples from my breast skin. I am a mommy of 3 lovely children and breast feed each of them. 44 years old, 140 pounds, active/fit person. After gaining and losing 50+ pounds three times I didn’t like the extra skin on my tummy and the “pancake” look my boobs had taken on. I originally saw Dr.Shortt in September and was only planning on doing fat transfer to my breasts and mini tuck. After many hours on this site and researching the heck out of everything I decided to do a small implant/ lift and tummy tuck but only moving my belly button down (not making a new one) Plus, I wanted the incision super low and not as long as usual so I can still wear a low string bikini. For the upcoming weeks before surgery I was thinking of canceling as $20k+ and 4-6 weeks of hell as a busy mom of three just feels irresponsible, but i kept telling myself that I MATTER TOO, I’m doing this!!! Fabulous Doctor, Extremely smart ( like Mensa IQ) with attention to detail. Confident, clear, and precise in conversations. Hand surgery was done extremely well with 4 breaks in one shattered bone. Bone was wrapped and pinned in titanium chain links and micro screwed. Recover has been excellent I have 100% of mobility in my hand and work in home renovation. The scar is small pin sized line, not noticeable; no extra bumps or blemishes. Truly a five star surgeon. I am hoping he does face surgery.

I simply cannot find enough superlatives to express my gratitude to Dr. Short for his wonderful work.
I have, for many years now, had numerous black moles and dark spots on my face and they seemed to be multiplying. Dr. Short removed over 40 of these and when I left his office, I have to admit, I was worried. I looked pretty rough. But there are no crevices or dips in my skin (of which I thought there’d be many) and most incredibly there is no visible scarring at all. It’s hard for me to say how much better I feel now. I have a refreshed, natural look. I am a career musician and in the public eye so, needless to say, I feel so much more confident about my appearance.

Everyone reacts differently to a diagnosis / treatment of breast cancer. For me, after the mastectomy, I no longer felt whole. I decided reconstructive surgery was the answer which was very intense – but no regrets. The results were good but I still felt a little mismatched. My surgeon referred me to Dr. Shortt. Like so many others on this site, I felt like he knew exactly what I was looking for and how to get there. Dr. Shortt has a great eye and is a creative visionary that can determine what need to be done, coupled with the skill to do it. What really differentiates him from the rest though, is his empathy and understanding. You don’t often find doctors who are good at combining the science with compassion. This was a surprising and greatly appreciated aspect of my care. I am 4 weeks post op now and I have to say the results are spectacular. I feel like the sisters have been reunited and I am whole again. If you have had reconstructive surgery and feel you need a little more finessing, take my advice and make it happen. Amazing plastic surgeon who was initially referred to me by another plastic surgeon. From my first consultation, Dr Shortt immediately knew what surgical procedures were the best option for my situation. No hesitation in diagnosis and recommended plan of action. I’m a breast cancer survivor and I thought a breast reconstruction was a lost cause for me due to my extension radiation treatments and consequential skin damage. Dr Shortt was very methodical and professional throughout the entire 18 month process. Before each surgery, I witnessed assertiveness and confidence with a sure hand mapping my body with his sharpie pen. He made me feel at ease with his good sense of humour and music.

Dr. Shortt made my experience so wonderful and easy, he listened to all my concerns and was so helpful with everything. I had small implants put in to correct my tuberous breast and didn’t want too much of a visible change in size, he did exactly that and was so helpful throughout the whole process and made things very easy. I was reviewing breast transfer procedures on real self. Dr. Shorrt had comment on a previous post. I checked out his profile/website and decided to go for a consultation. I was glad that he actually conducted the consultation. I’ve been to one where the Dr.’s assistant did the initial one. He was very easy to talk , to express your concerns. He was very knowledge. Some doctors are in rush to explain things. “You don’t get a second chance to make a first impression” . I felt very comfortable right away. I knew I wanted him to be my surgeon.

Dr Short t was my surgeon for breast reduction, tummy tuck, bra-line back lift and panniculectomy. I was at ease upon our first meeting. I felt he genuinely was on my side and interested in my well being. Although the surgeries I have undergone have been major , the pain was surprisingly minor. I have had excellent recoveries and shockingly minimal scaring. I could not be more satisfied with having been his patient. I did some research about plastic surgery and costs were in line with others. All in all I can not say enough good things about my experience with both Dr. Shortt and his staff

I had a bump on my thumb removed by Dr Shortt a few years ago. It was e third time I’d had it removed, as it kept growing back, but since Dr Shortt removed it, it hasn’t returned!

Dr Shortt was recommended to me for my explant surgery. I was informed he was the best surgeon for the job and that I would be very happy with the results.
We met on a couple of occasions before the surgery and discussed the options of new implants, fat grafting or just an explant. He was courteous, respectful and very knowledgeable.
He respected my decision to just have the explant surgery and didn’t try to sell me on other procedures. He is all about what’s best for his patients. When I had my pre-op at the hospital, the intake nurse couldn’t say enough wonderful things about him and his skills. That solidified it for me.
I’m very pleased with the results of my explant surgery. It was a unique case in that the implants had completely liquified. They were done 8 years ago by another recommended surgeon in Burlington, not Dr Shortt himself. It seems they were just defective.
Dr. Shortt noted that he had never seen any implants come out in that condition. I appreciate that he is following up with the manufacturer to inform them of the situation.
if you are choosing implants, please do your research and educate yourself and if you choose to have them done, Dr. Shortt is your guy.

Recently I had Dr Shortt remove a large lump from the back of my leg. His genuinely friendly manner immediately put me at ease.
In the hospital, he explained how the procedure was going to work, which made me feel comfortable. The actual procedure took less than 5 minutes, with no pain. Dr. Shortt performed breast reduction/tummy tuck surgery and I am very happy with the results. He is a masterful surgeon and he has exceeded my expectations. I’m a 64 yr. old woman who has lived with shoulder and back pain for years. I decided to have a breast reduction in the hope of easing this discomfort and improving my quality of life in retirement. I went to Dr. Shortt for breast reduction in 2015 and things went sideways when they found an early form of breast cancer (DCIS). It hadn’t shown up on the mammogram 6 months earlier. Dr. Rodger delivered the news, and was gentle and frank about my choices. I had been thrilled and pleasantly surprised with the breast reduction. I was equally happy about what followed after the cancer news; no chemo or radiation required: just a series of surgeries starting with a unilateral mastectomy, DIEP Flap surgery for breast reconstruction, nipple reconstruction and scar remediation, all ending with a nipple tattoo by one of his expert colleagues. I’ve never been so well cared for in my life. Dr. Shortt and his teams, both at the office and in the OR, formed a circle of care that kept me comfortable, confident and happy.
Dr. Shortt has fully embraced social media, which translates into access to tons of information through his blogs, links about procedures (i.e. DIEP flap surgery), and the ability to ask him questions remembered after appointments. He’s a straight shooter and a healer with a quick wit and a world of personal experience. I can’t recommend him enough!

Dr. Shortt was very easy to talk to, he made me feel comfortable about having the breast reconstruction. I had a breast removed on May 25,2015 due to cancer. One of the cancer doctors in the Hamilton Cancer Center recommended Dr. Shortt. This was a great turning point in my life. I could not begin to tell you how great this experience was. He is so down to earth, kept me calm in talking about the surgery. If I had to tell another person dealing with breast cancer and having to have it removed, to see Dr. Shortt. This was a very traumatic experience to go through but this doctor made it easier to deal with the operation.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, facing the necessity for a mastectomy and frightened of the unknown that lay ahead of me. I quickly researched the various breast reconstruction options including flap reconstruction and which plastic surgeons were skilled in this microsurgery procedure. I am soo happy to have found Dr shortt..I feel soo lucky to have followed my gutt feeling and chose Dr shortt as my surgeon..I was between Dr shortt and another Hollywood Dr in the states..after having a skyp call with both of them..I felt instant comfort with Dr shortt.. he explained everything about the procedure ( the tummy thigh and breast lift) and really took time answering all my questions and concerns…I got very nervous as the day got closer.. but as soon as I saw him in person( I forgot to mention that I flew all the way from Dubai to Toronto for this and boy am I glad) as soon as I saw him in person I felt that sense of comfort I had during my skyp calls ..
Do now let me tell you about my recovery..I had the surgery and got discharged same day.. my breast lift was a piece of cake. I did feel nothing but a sense of discomfort to say the most.. however it was okaaay, controlable with meds..I walked immediately as per Dr shortt recommendation.. but I stayed home for the first 5 days because my meds were making me drowsy .. for the next 5 days .. off meds by now(i chose to do so because I got bored and s wanted to get out) it was torture I couldn’t walk more than an hour in the mall or so and it was very painful getting out of bed.. after 10 days it got soo much better .. at 15 days I was perfectly fine.

Nowabout my results..I am one month in and soo thrilled of the outcomes..I was soo ecstatic .. of my new set of knockers I was showing them to all my girlfriends.. they could not believe that I didn’t have implants in .. they were asking me to touch them to make sure and asked me are you sure Dr didn’t insert any kind of support ????????.. because there too perky with beautiful shape..Dr shortt not only does a lift.. apparently during the procedure.. somehow he shapes the fat as well to create fullness in the right places..ie more lifted breasts.. and i have to say i have heavy breasts i am 32DD so that was a phenomenal thing to achieve.. the scars are amazing almost invisible now.
About my tummy tuck..I have to say i am a fit person I exercise alot and I have strong abs and mainly wanted the tummy tuck for the muscle repairs.. mine were strong but a bit separated and you can only do soo much with working out.. my stomach is so flat now.. it’s unbelievable. And it supposed to get even better with time and exercise ..I can’t wait to have a six pack????????

This experience took awhile to absorb for a few reasons. Clearly a breast cancer diagnosis is a scary reality but I am happy to say with the beautiful reconstruction surgery I went through under the care of Dr. Shortt I am now starting to feel like a beautiful person on the inside and out! Dr Shortt and his staff provided excellent care. From my initial communication with the office and my multiple visits (while I decided exactly what I wanted done) everyone was through, communicative and helpful. I ended up having a ‘mommy makeover’ and couldn’t be happier with my results and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dr Shortt to anyone looking for a PS.

I always had a small chest (34A at best) and had considered implants for years. Just over a year prior to getting my surgery, I had started a fitness journey to get me back to a place where I was comfortable in my own skin again. Something I didn’t anticipate was actually losing fat in my chest.
Becoming frustrated with not being able to fit into any of my shirts, even after all the hard work I had put in through fitness, I made the decision to get a small implant to at the very least get me back up to where I was before losing weight.
I chose an implant that was 170cc’s along with fat grafting to help hide the implant. I wanted to make sure it looked as natural as possible.
After the surgery, everything went pretty much as expected. I had a bit of excess swelling where the lipo was done on my thighs to collect the fat for the grafting. The brusing was worse than I had expected but definitely not out of the ordinary. Dr Shortt even met with me a few days after my surgery just to make sure.
It’s now been just over 2 months since my surgery and I couldn’t be happier. Things are still settling but I’m more pleased and would highly recommend Dr Shortt to anyone! His care and detail were exceptional!

Dr. Shortt is an outstanding surgeon. I approached him regarding nipple reduction surgery, and frankly, I was a bit embarrassed when I began discussing it with him at the consultation. However, Dr. Shortt was very professional, took the time to answer all of my questions, and made me feel completely comfortable. By the time my consultation wrapped up, I was so impressed with Dr. Shortt that I went ahead and booked the surgery before I left the office… and I can honestly state that the outcome of my surgery was fantastic! My nipples are much smaller but look completely natural and there is no perceptible scar. By the way, I also had Dr. Shortt perform a facial laser rejuvenation procedure and I’m very happy with the results. If you are looking for a kind, caring, compassionate and patient, surgeon, Dr. Rodger Shortt is your man. In March of 2015, I was diagnosed with stage three, invasive ductal carcinoma and, as a result, in April 2015, I underwent a full mastectomy. Upon learning that I carried the BRAC 1 mutation, I chose to have my left breast removed as a health precaution in November 2016. Because of the damage caused by the radiation treatments, I had to be realistic about the possibility of not being able to have reconstructive surgery. From the start, Dr. Shortt has been honest, patient, sensitive and beyond helpful with my questions and concerns throughout this process (3 surgeries)! I am beyond grateful for what this man has been able to accomplish, he has not only met, but exceeded my expectations. He worked magic and I will be forever thankful to him for what he has done for me.

After having 2 c sections, it was clear that no matter how much diet and exercise I did, it was not going to reverse the damage of pregnancy.

Excellent Doctor and all around great person. It’s really hard to find a doctor who has such a superb skillset and the bedside manner to go along with it. I had an unsightly cyst removed from my face and Dr Shortt used one stitch. No word of a lie there is not even a scar and it’s been less than two months. I have seen a few plastic surgeons in the past and Dr Shortt is by and far a class in his own. If I do have any major procedures in the future I will definitely be going to him.

I recently had blepharoplasty surgery to removes excess sagging skin around my upper eyelids with Dr Shortt, and I am so pleased. The results are fantastic!! I was diagnose with breast cancer stage 1 in my left breast and had a full mastectomy in 2015. The care I have received along the way has been nothing short of exceptional. I have recently completed reconstructive breast surgery, under the care of Dr. Shortt. When I met him he gave me a number of options and stated what he felt would work best for me. I just have to say that Dr. Rodger Shortt did exactly what he said he would do to remove the tissue which was left after I lost sixty four pounds fifteen years ago. The skin under the overhang if tissue was always very red and burned and did not heal no matter what cream I put on it. I am so pleased with the results of my surgery and the after care is very good and the Dr is very attentive. I heard Dr. Shortt speak at the BRA (Breast Reconstruction Awareness) event in September 2014. I opted for a double mastectomy after being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer, March 2014. What a journey! After meeting with other plastic surgeons to learn about their breast reconstruction methods, I opted to go with Dr. Shortt’s bilateral breast DIEP reconstruction which used my own tissue (fat) – April 2016. The results were good; I was happy to have breasts again but there was more he felt could be done to make them even more natural. In April 2017, he removed the flap and created nipples. Instead of having cat-eye scars on each breast, there is only one now. Indeed, an incredible improvement. Dr. Shortt takes incredible pride in his work and valued having a relationship with me. Having cancer was enough of an experience; I waffled between anger and gratitude – anger because cancer mutilated my body and gratitude because my breasts could be removed and I was living to tell the tale. It would have been easy to just live with wearing prosthesis however when I thought back to the BRA event and hearing the stories of other woman who had their breasts reconstructed, I found the inspiration I needed to face another doctor and more surgeries. Happy to say it’s all behind me now. Dr. Shortt, did by breast reduction surgery and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I met with several surgeons before deciding on Dr. Shortt. I felt that he was the most approachable and respectful. He asked me what was important to me (shape, size etc) and then delivered exactly what I had wanted. My post-surgery recuperation was extremely fast. If I had any suggestion for improvement, it would be to have a better understanding of what to expect on the day of surgery. In hindsight, I should have asked more questions as it would have helped me feel more prepared, but in my case everything went extremely smoothly and there really was nothing to do.

I had a consultation with Dr. Shortt regarding excision of a lipoma that was slow growing for over 10 years. This lipoma was on the back of my head just above my neck. This lipoma bothered me not in a cosmetic fashion because it was under my hair. It just hurt, it throbbed, it would swell and it would get warm. I had many, many referrals sent out over the years to different surgeons and plastic surgeons. Always rejected! Not Dr. Shortt. He took the time, explained everything to me and my husband and he removed it in the office. Lots of freezing, the excision took about an hour. He was very gentle. He is a very nice young man, speaks in a very gentle manner and doesn’t make you self conscious in any way. The procedure was a success. I had three follow up visits. After having a terrible experience with the first attempt to fix my deviated septum, I was incredibly afraid and nervous to try again. Not being able to breathe well brought me in to see Dr. Shortt. I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer in October 2010. After 6 rounds of Chemo, a double mastectomy and 25 rounds of radiation, I went to see Dr. Shortt. I was tired of having inserts in my bra and worrying about other people seeing the inserts if I wore a blouse that was slightly revealing. Dr. Shortt almost rejected me as my skin was so badly damaged from the radiation. However, he took me on as a patient. In my surgery I had muscle from my back moved to my left side of my chest to help build the breast, skin from my back was also used. I also had tissue expanders inserted. Once I was happy with my cup size from the saline injections , I waited 3 months to have the last part of surgery completed. This involved taking out the tissue expanders and replacing them with the implants. I am very happy with the results. Dr. Shortt is a perfectionist and a compassionate person. Thank you!

About 2 years ago I woke up and decided I had to make a change. I lost 85 pounds . As much as this was great I was left with lots of flabby skin and droopy breasts. It was so nice to be treated like a person which isn’t always the case at a doctor’s office. Dr. Shortt was always punctual and gave me all the information I needed and answered all my questions in a very comfortable atmosphere. I am so happy with the results. My breasts were very large and now are just right. The surgery went perfectly smooth with no problems at all. The healing process went very well too. Everything about the whole experience was extremely positive and so much less painful and scary than I expected….mostly thanks to Dr. Shortt. He is kind, caring, very articulate and knowledgeable. Makes you feel very comfortable and confident in his care. I couldn’t ask for anything better.

I had a single mastectomy in 2012. . My mother had five failed implants by another doctor so I didn’t want to go there. My sister had a flap with an implant that she was pleased with but her doctor moved. I heard about Dr Shortt from my cancer support group and saw his results. I had a DIEP flap with only my skin and fat. He just put the finishing touches on his June surgery with a nipple and fat grafting to smooth the edge out last week. What FABULOUS RESULTS. I had a breast reduction and tummy tuck 3 weeks ago and even with the expected post op swelling and recovery time I am totally thrilled. Dr. Shortt is confident , thorough and caring. He spent hours over multiple appointments answering questions and discussing procedures and options. He is a very talented surgeon with a wonderful sense of humor that made me very comfortable before and after surgery. My breasts are tiny and beautiful. My stomach and belly button look better than when I was 20. I’ve never had a 6 pack even when I hit the gym 4 times a week. I do now. He will have improved my life.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 26. I underwent a bi-lateral mastectomy to implants with a different doctor as I did not know Dr. Shortt at the time. I went to see Dr Shortt because two of my friends raved about him. I am really glad that I did. He was methodical and efficient. He pointed out several things I never thought of. He gave me lots of options but did not hesitate to indicate why he felt one was better than another. I had my breasts lifted with just a little reduction. They are more beautiful than I ever hoped for. The scars are almost invisible. He may not have as much experience (or arrogance) as some plastic surgeons but he has a gift. You will not be disappointed. I strongly recommend him. He (and his staff -nurse and secretary) really far exceeded my expectations.

Dr Shortt has performed 2 basal cell surgeries on my face in the last year and a half, and i have to say that he is one of the best dr’s I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He’s so easy to talk to and answers any questions you have for him. His bedside manner is impeccable. I was petrified going into surgery for the first time and he made me feel at complete ease throughout the whole ordeal. And the scar on my face, while being about 2 inches long is barely visible at all.
