LOOK GOOD, FEEL GREAT AND BRING BACK YOUR YOUTHFUL LOOK.
A neck lift is a surgical procedure that involves the removal and tightening of sagging skin around the face and neck. The sagging skin on the neck is often referred to as a “waddle”. A neck lift is often performed to accompany a facelift.
Other techniques used to improve the appearance of the neck and the face, include liposuction and laser skin rejuvenation. Liposuction can be used alone in someone that has good quality skin without laxity, but has excess fat. As everyone has different concerns, Dr. Shortt will go over the best approach with you to meet your specific goals.
Dr Shortt will go over your options, so you feel that your surgery is specifically planned for you.
When to consider having this procedure?
In general, candidates for neck lift surgery are aged 40 – 70 years, are in good health and are able to have general anaesthetic, and may have one or more of the following characteristics:
sagging skin and loss of elasticity on the neck
self conscious of the apparent look of “jowl” or “waddle” on the neck
desire a more youthful appearance of the face and neck
concerned about excess fat in the neck
are undergoing a facelift already
What is the recovery time?
In general, the recovery time following a neck lift surgical procedure is approximately 3-6 weeks, with swelling that can potentially last a bit longer. As with any surgery under general anaesthetic, there are potential risks or complications to consider. During your private consultation, Dr Shortt will take a thorough medical history from you, discuss your surgical options, explain the complete procedure and potential risks, what to expect pre and post surgery and your estimated recovery time.

“Recently, I was asked to show my photo ID at the LCBO. I had my 42nd birthday this past spring, so I couldn’t be happier!” I see a lot of people in my office for a lot of different things. Sometimes people come specifically to discuss things they can do to look younger. Sometimes they come for something else but the conversation often comes around to the same thing…. how to look your best for your age.
If you are like many people, you are wishing for the fountain of youth to spring-up and bring eternal beauty! Well, until that happens, perhaps I can help. As a plastic surgeon, I see many people for many things. A common question that I get is what can be done about aging?
I often see patients who complain about looking older than they feel, or of being told they “look tired all the time.” Eyelid (or blepharoplasty) surgery can make a tremendous improvement to a person’s appearance, giving them a younger, fresher look.
