BE MORE CONFIDENT WITH YOUR APPEARANCE.
Inverted nipples are a common problem. Some patients have always had this problem, some may develop it following surgery, and some may find that it occurs spontaneously.
The former two are generally non-concerning. Correction typically involves a small procedure, often performed under local anaesthetic, that releases the tethering tissue (short ducts or scar) and creates a more natural projecting nipple. The latter case however needs to be examined by a doctor to rule out anything more concerning such as breast cancer. If you have developed spontaneous nipple inversion or other changes, make sure to see your doctor for further investigation.
Dr Shortt will go over your options, so you feel that your surgery is specifically planned for you.
When to consider having this procedure?
In general, candidates for an inverted nipple correction procedure are in good health and may have one or more of the following characteristics:
dislike current shape and size of inverted nipple
desire to increase confidence in appearance when being intimate
want to change shape of silhouette in a bikini
improve breast contour and appearance in form-fitting clothing
What is the recovery time?
Depending on the extent of the inversion, different techniques may be used, including non-surgical options. In general, the recovery is fairly straight forward and minimal. You may need to wear some foam or other donut type dressing to prevent pressure on your nipple for six weeks while it heals in its everted position. There may be some external sutures that need removal at 1 week, but otherwise the sutures are all resorbable.
During your private consultation, Dr Shortt will take a thorough medical history from you, discuss your surgical options, explain the complete procedure and potential risks, discuss what to expect pre and post surgery, and your estimated recovery time. You will need to wear a dressing afterwards that prevents pressure on the nipple while it heals. Sutures are usually removed at 1 week.

An area of plastic surgery that I sub-specialize in is surgery of the breast. I love sculpting and creating a beautiful and natural looking breast. I do so with breast implants, with fat transfer and even by moving tissue from one area to another There is no perfect surgery, and everyone needs something tailored to their own needs and goals. Some patients would look great with a small breast implant that has a teardrop shape; while others may want something larger and fuller at the top of the breast.read more

As a plastic surgeon I care a lot about scars. My reputation is on the line every time I make an incision in someone. Beyond my reputation, I really want people to be happy. It gives me great pleasure to see a scar heal and be barely visible; it is a competition with myself each time I operate.read more
